Mount Road, Chennai.. The scene of many a traffic jam.. The scene of many an incident. It was a warm summer day in Chennai city. Rahul was on his bike going from Guindy to Parrys. Green - Amber - Red. The signal changed. Rahul cursed under his breath. He skid to a halt. 119... 118... 110... 99... The timing indicator on the signal ticked down. 2 minutes for a signal! He was sweating. He removed his helmet. A slight breeze hit his cheeks, bringing with it a nice perfume smell. He turned to his left to see the scooty that came to a halt just a few seconds before. On it was a girl, who looked nothing short of a goddess.. Tall, probably 5'7, and fair. She was wearing her chudidhar - a bright yellow one. She turned and looked at Rahul through the helmet she was wearing. Rahul tried to get a glimpse of her face through the vizer but he couldnt. Damn his luck! The signal changed its wavelength.. She sped off into the distance. He put on his helmet and tried to follow her, but he lost sight of the beauty. At a distance he could see a crowd gathering. He slowed down. There was an accident.. He saw a yellow dupatta fly in front of his face. He got down. She was bleeding all over. The lorry that rammed into her was nowhere in sight now. Someone from the crowd removed her helmet. She was a beauty, indeed. She was still concious. She stood up and had a sip of water. Rahul waved down an auto and escorted her to a hospital. She soon recovered and they lived happily ever after....

Anna Salai, Chennai... The scene of many a traffic jam.. The scene of many an incident. It was a warm summer afternoon in Madras City. Rahul was on his bike going from Guindy to Parrys. Green - Amber - Red. Rahul cursed under his breath. He skid to a halt. 119... 118... 110... 99... The timing indicator on the signal ticked down. 2 minutes for a signal! He looked at himself at the mirror correcting his hairstyle that was in a mess due to the breeze. As he peered into the mirror, he saw a Kinetic Honda pull up behind him. On it was a girl, who looked nothing short of a Goddess. Tall, probably 5'7, and fair. She was wearing her chudidhar - a bright yellow one. He turned to see the girl. She was checking him out too.. Their eyes met. She had a nice curve on her lips - the smile of a princess.. He returned the smile. She pointed at the signal. He noticed that Green had fallen. He rotated the accelerator. She did the same. They kept moving parallel to each other. They could hardly take their eyes off each other. They heard the horn of the lorry at the last moment. He reacted quickly and applied the brakes. She didnt. She collided with the lorry and was on the ground in an instant. Her yellow dupatta flew and landed on his face. The red marks on the dupatta were all the more distinct. Blood was flowing from her head.. She had no chance. He had lost his name-less beauty in an instant. If only she had a helmet on!!!!

Wear a helmet... Get a life... Its yours, afterall!!!

When an Indian called up an "Indian".... @
By Whoosh 2 @ 11:45 am      4 Comments
It so happened that Microsoft was playing its usual tricks again... Remember the Virus scanner joke.. It goes something like this.. A dude scans his system for viruses and out comes the message box displaying "Microsoft Found!!! Delete? Quarantine? Exit?"...

So, my nice little laptop, surprisingly, worked without a hitch for a good 7 months. And then it happened. The system went Kapooot!!! And so I had to reinstall Windows.. Ever wondered why it was called Windows? I mean, why not doors?? Doors are bigger, arent they? Or in that case, why not Gates (as in the gate in the front of ur house). Coming to think of it, Gates would probably have been a better choice as HE could later got to have claimed it as a family business...

So, after installing the Windows XP software, XP religiously asked me to enter the product serial number. I tried arguing with my machine that I dont watch serials, but it refused to believe me. So I had to enter my serial number. After much deliberation with someone whom I dont know (my computer's girlfriend, maybe), it decided to tell me that the number I enetered was invalid. I was like, "what the......".. How could I make a mistake while just copying a silly number from the back of the machine to the front... Anyways, it wouldnt agree to lemme go forward. So, I had to do something about this.

Microsoft was good enough to give me two toll-free numbers to call them up. Since I was calling from my Hutch phone, the 1600- number was not usable. So, I called the other number that looked kinda weird. It started with three zeros. One zero means STD. Two zeros means ISD. Three zeros??? Never seen it before. Anyways, I called up this number fully expecting to hear an Indian voice at the other end.. Afterall, everyone knows that all Service calls are routed to India. So why would this be any different. Imagine my surprise when I was received with a "hello" with an African accent. Thats right, my call was routed to Africa!!!!!! hahahah!!!!

The fellow spoke good English, though at times I couldnt understand what he said. And that guy had pretty good manners. Whenever I said I couldnt understand him, he said "sorry". Now that is one word I dont get to hear often in India.

Anyways, my problem was solved and I developed a new interest for Africa!!

And talk about toll free numbers... That call cost be 24 bucks, though it was supposed to be "toll-free".

Go Africa!

Need some help... @
By Whoosh 2 @ 7:52 am      8 Comments
As you must have noticed, I have switched to a new template.. As you must have also noticed, this is not a blogspot template and hence it is a bit raw.

A friend of mine told me that the blog isnt displaying properly on Internet Explorer and I am working to get that fixed (though I have no clue why the problem is occuring). I set up the entire blog to look good on Mozilla Firefox but another friend of mine told me he had issues viewing the blog on that browser too..

So, I need a small favor from my beloved reader. If u see any issues anywere in the blog, please file SPRs (Software problem reports :D) in my comments page.. Help make 'Asathoma Sadgamaya' better!!!

Thanks
Vikkki

My two cents... @
By Whoosh 2 @ 6:59 am      1 Comments
It is something that has been ground as much as possible over the past week in the Indian blogosphere, but something that I came to be aware of as late as yesterday morning. I am sure all the readers of my blog would well be aware of the IIPM issue. Personally, I have nothing against the institute nor do I know anything about the functioning of the management there or the curriculum being taught there. But what I do know is that I feel the way the managament of IIPM handled the issue by issuing legal notices to Gaurav Sabnis, Rashnmi Bansal and Varna was highly unlike how an institute that teaches management should have acted. Is this the way they teach crisis management to their students? I pity the students if the answer to the question is yes. I would have been much more in support of IIPM had they defended their advertisements by proving them to be correct (if indeed that is the case). Having not done that and by taking the offensive, IIPM has not done itself any favors. It has mearly come under the wrath of the entire Indian blogosphere and has dug a deeper pit for itself.

As a token of his support Kiruba has come out with "buttons" on his blogsite, which I have reproduced on the top of this page.

My two cents..

HEY IIPM PEOPLE.. READ THIS DISCLAIMER: This post is my personal opinion on the way IIPM could have handled the issue and is by no way an attempt to "tarnish" the image of your institute.. I dont want to see any notices flooding my mailbox :)
