Siddarth got out of the Metro. The latest introduction into Chennai's landscape, the metro had gained the attention of all, and Shreya was not to be left out. She had fun travelling in the metro. Siddarth was always there with her - arm in arm, they would ride the metro all night long till she said that she had had enough. Siddarth was always there for her. He knew the pain she was going through after the love of her life split up with her. Vikkki had to move on to greener pastures to further his career. She still loved him. He still loved her. Siddarth wished Shreya would come out of the haze which was Vikkki and see the true person who Siddarth was - but he knew that would take time. And he would wait.
Vikkki and Shreya would talk every night. Google talk was a God send in many ways. She would always cry her heart out and he would sit there comforting her. But they knew one thing for sure - Distance mattered.
Time passed. Vikkki was as successful as he always wanted to be. But there was still something missing in his life. The lonely rose near his window grill was all that remained of their life together. He wanted it back. He knew that she was the missing link of his circle. The number of times they spoke in the last two years had come down considerably. He would always blame it on his workload, but deep within he knew that it was his guilt that kept him away from her. He hoped she would move on. He wished she wouldnt. Now he had made his mind up. He knew what would make him happy. More importantly, he knew what would make her happy. He sent her an email letting her know that he was coming. He took the next flight to Chennai...
The flight was un-eventful, except for the pretty airhostess who resembled Shreya in more ways than one. He smiled to himself. He was planning on his entrance at Shreya's place - contemplating whether to hug her or to kiss her. He decided to let her make the move. This was the day he was waiting for in a long time..
Shreya was watching the news on BBC world, when a flash report came in. American Airlines 540 had crashed into the Atlantic Ocean after losing contact with the tower. At first, that news seemed insignificant for her - but that was when realization struck her. He was on that flight. She shivered. She cried. She was speechless. This was not how she had planned the day to be.
An hour later the doorbell rang. Vikkki could hear crying noises behind the door. It opened. The first image that struck him was that of Shreya crying holding the picture of Siddarth in her hand.
Siddarth was on American Airlines 540, flying to Chennai to celebrate Shreya and Siddarth's first wedding anniversary - Vikkki later learned.

We see so much violence around us these days.. Let it be Saddam Hussain or George Bush, Abu Salem or Veerappan, Saurav Ganguly or Greg Chappel, there is violence everywhere... Ever wondered why people these days are so violent?? Some say it was the company that they kept when they were in college. Some say it is the workplace which is the contributing factor. Maybe. Some tamil gnaana-vists would say "Kali kaalam muthipochi".. I feel it is none of these. I would put the blame squarely on our LKG and UKG teachers (Rona maam, sorry for pulling u into this :D ). Yes folks, the violence was instilled into us right from the time we were in Kindergarten and asking us to forget all that we learnt back then is not an easy task. Sumaa vaa solli irukaanga "Aindhil valaiyaadhadhu Ainbadhil valayumaa??" nnu.. Anju la valanjidichi, irubathanjila pogumaa?? Here is just a few drops of what we learnt in Kindergarten.
"Jack and Jill went up the hill, To fetch a pail of water, Jack fell down and broke his crown, And Jill came tumbling after."
Here we were taught how a peaceful, calm situation can be turned violent. We were taught how Jack had his head split open and ultimately perishes to it. The practice of 'Sati' (Killing of the wife when the husband dies) is also taught here. Jack fell down and hence Jill also had to fall down, lest the society would foul upon her... Bad Bad.. Now to my next example..
"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall; All the King's horses and all the King's men, Couldn't put Humpty together again."
Here we learn about how a poor guy called Humpty sat on a "kutti-suvaru" and avan eppadi kuttisuvaraa ponaan-nnu. We were taught how this fellow fell down and dislocated every part of his body that even the mighty king was not able to do anything about it. Bad.. Bad.. Next..
"London Bridge is falling down, Falling down, falling down. London Bridge is falling down, My fair lady."
Well, we all know that Nero played the fiddle when Rome was burning. And we all detested that. And rightly so. But did anyone ever wonder why Nero actually did that? His teacher in UKG taught him the above nursery rhyme. He was asked to sing this song when London bridge was actually falling down. They didnt teach him to dial 911 and ask for assistance. Neither did they teach him to perform first aid to all those poor people who might have been on the bridge when the tragedy occured. They asked him to sing! And guess what -- as a result, he thought it was correct to play the fiddle when Rome burnt.. It aint his mistake, people!
Next,
"Old MacDonald had a farm, E I E I O, And on his farm he had a duck, E I E I O. With a quack quack here and a quack quack there, Here a quack, there a quack, everywhere a quack quack. Old MacDonald had a farm, E I E I O."
Here our teachers taught us that a fellow called MacDonald became a quack. Now, honestly, teaching about stealing and cheating shouldnt really be a part of the Kindergarten syllabi. If they really had to teach this, they could have started a seperate course called "How to become a quack in 24 days"..
And thats not all.. Take a look at this attempted homicide..
" Ding, dong, bell, Pussy's in the well. Who put her in? Little Johnny Green."
Why wasnt Johnny Green booked under IPC 106?? Why do our teachers make him a hero and teach about him in class? Why do we have to know about the mis-deeds of one Mr.Johnny Green? And that too at KG level.. Please!!!!!
We, the citizens of this esteemed country, need to take a stand and control what the young ones of today are taught in class. We were most unfortunate that we were taught to be violent right from childhood, but let this not continue. Join the noble cause.. Protest.. BE VIOLENT!!!!
Psst: The latest agitation against Kushbooooooooo and Suhasini can also be attributed to the same violence.

I had a strange dream yesterday night...
I was going with Shreya in my car on the East Coast Road.. (ala, Kaaka Kaaka style). I was holding Shreya's palm in one hand and the steering wheel in the other..
Suddenly, Shreya disappeared.. and guess what, I was holding Aishwarya Rai's hand.. Hmm, guess what that means!!!! |

En romba naal aasai innikki niraivandanjidichi...
I took an auto this morning to get to office as I was running terribly late.. U can attribute that to the movie marathon over the weekend, about which I will write later. Ok, coming to the point, this auto fellow asked for 50 bucks for a 5 km trip. Now, that is like double the actual meter charge. Not seeing any other auto nearby and as I had to be in office in 10 minutes I had to accept and got into the auto. I asked that fellow "Why are u charging so much for such a short trip??".. He replied "Saar, I have to come back empty saar. I wont get a savari from that place. I have to come back all this way alone saar.." I was like, damn it!
On reaching my office, I got down. At the same time a lady came to the auto and wanted to go to Marathalli. The auto fellow said OK. On seeing this, I gave the auto fellow 25 rupees. He was surprised. He demanded 50 rupees. I cool-ly told him, "U wanted double the meter charge because u said that u wont get a savari in ther return journey.. But, now U have.. So, I am only paying u the meter charge, which is 25 bucks.." Saying this I walked away.. I expected the auto fellow to pick up a fight, but I was surprised he didnt. Guess he didnt want to lose the next savari..
:) Have taken my revenge on the auto fellas. Revenge is sweet.. hehe..
